Mr. Javier Tirado-Polo earned his Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs with a concentration in International Economics and a minor in Philosophy from the Elliott School of International Affairs of The George Washington University in the year 2008. That same year, he was admitted to the Francis King Carey School of Law of the University of Maryland from which he graduated with a juris doctor in 2011. Mr. Tirado-Polo is a registered Notary Public and is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia, Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, the United Stated District Court for Puerto Rico and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. Mr. Tirado-Polo has concentrated his practice in corporate, securities, and health law as well as government affairs. He has considerable experience providing effective counsel while maintaining a business oriented focus to corporations regarding matters including corporate governance, compliance under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, ERISA, COBRA, Medicaid, the Puerto Rico Insurance Code, and the Puerto Rico Health Insurance Code. Javier has also represented clients before regulating agencies at the Federal, State, and Commonwealth of Puerto Rico levels.

> REPRESENTATIVE CASES/ MATTERS

  • Drafted and negotiated model contracts under the Puerto Rico Government Health Plan before the Puerto Rico Health Insurance Administration.
  • Served as Counsel for Puerto Rico’s largest health insurer in connection with the revamping under the URAC accreditation process of all provider contracts ensuring their compliance with applicable program and legal requirements as well as incorporating the input of the client’s operational departments.
  • Provided counsel to corporations in connection with corporate requirements under Puerto Rico law as well as with the procurement of applicable government incentives including such incentives under the Incentives and Financing for Young Entrepreneurs Act (Act 135 of 2014).
